Wujiang Commemorates 90th Anniversary of Fei Xiaotong's Jiangcun Study

On November 1, 2026, scholars and local officials gathered in Kaixiangong Village, Wujiang District, Jiangsu Province, marking the 90th anniversary of Fei Xiaotong's pivotal Jiangcun field study. Organized by Wujiang District in collaboration with Chinese universities, the event focused on Fei's legacy and the role of Jiangcun's insights in China's modernization.

The event entitled "Understanding China's Modernization Through Jiangcun" also marked the opening of the Fei Xiaotong Social Survey Center. This center aims to extend Fei's fieldwork approach, emphasizing understanding local perspectives through comprehensive research.

Zhang Yi, president of the Chinese Sociological Association, underscored Fei's dedication to improving livelihoods and emphasized the importance of firsthand investigation. Sun Daoxun, from the CPC Wujiang District Committee, highlighted efforts to revitalize rural communities and strengthen local governance in alignment with Fei's approach.
