The New Club Secures $3.1M in Funding to Support Female Engineers
The New Club, a startup focusing on creating a network for female technologists, has successfully raised $3.1 million. This notable funding round was led by Sierra Ventures and Afore Capital, with contributions from various other investors including Operator Collective, Precursor Ventures, Dragonfly Capital, and a range of individual backers.
Addressing the persistent industry challenge, The New Club aims to cultivate a sense of belonging and professional camaraderie among women in engineering. By building data- and AI-enhanced professional networks, it seeks to bridge the gap in access to vital information, support, and networking opportunities that female engineers often face compared to their male counterparts.
Founder Laura Du emphasizes the goal of The New Club to disrupt traditional, transactional networking models and instead foster a community-centric approach that uplifts women in the engineering field. In spite of women constituting around 20% of the software engineering workforce and even less in leadership roles, The New Club targets this underserved segment to promote diversity and inclusivity.
Since its inception in March 2023, The New Club has rapidly grown, attracting over 1,000 founding members and hosting numerous events aimed at enriching the professional and personal lives of women in engineering. This traction underscores the platform's potential to reshape networking and career development for women in technology.
