The Nuclear Company Unveils 6.6 GW Power Campus in Kentucky

The Nuclear Company has announced Prosperity One, a planned nuclear power campus in Lewis County, Kentucky. This massive project could host up to six Westinghouse AP1000 reactors along the Ohio River, potentially becoming the largest nuclear power generation site in the U.S.

The initiative aligns with efforts to boost energy production in the country and aims to revitalize local industry, bringing skilled jobs and economic growth to the region. The company plans to commence site development activities, targeting construction in 2028, pending federal approvals.

Chief Nuclear Officer Joe Klecha stresses the importance of community involvement in the project. The site is owned by local Sam Howard, who supports the development for its potential to offer lasting economic benefits.

Lewis County is already taking steps to become a nuclear-ready community, with its leaders actively pursuing the necessary designations and approvals. Initial plans include environmental assessments and transmission interconnection planning to prepare for federal licensing processes.
