This grant will facilitate thyssenkrupp nucera's efforts in mass-producing alkaline water electrolyzers (AWE) and setting up an automated pilot assembly line, catering to the burgeoning U.S. hydrogen market.

With over half a century of experience in high-efficiency electrolysis technology, thyssenkrupp nucera stands as a world leader in AWE systems. In collaboration with De Nora, the funds will aid in pioneering automated manufacturing processes for gigawatt-scale AWE production, tailored for the American market. This initiative underscores thyssenkrupp nucera’s ambition to integrate further into the U.S. economy and foster local community ties, according to Dr. Werner Ponikwar, CEO of thyssenkrupp nucera.

This federal backing is a part of the DOE's comprehensive $750 million investment in 52 projects across 24 states, aiming to slash the cost of clean hydrogen and secure U.S. leadership in the global hydrogen sphere. thyssenkrupp nucera's extensive expertise and vast project portfolio, including landmark projects in Saudi Arabia and Sweden, will serve as a foundation for its expansion into the U.S.
