Torq Resources Announces Significant Discovery in Chile
Vancouver-based Torq Resources Inc. has reported promising results from its Phase III diamond drilling campaign at the Santa Cecilia gold-copper project in Chile's Maricunga belt. The project saw the completion of five diamond drill holes, totaling 4,061.5 meters. The campaign confirmed a new porphyry discovery at Gemelos Norte, with highlights including 450 meters of 0.51 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 0.155% copper within a broader intercept of 652 meters of 0.42 g/t gold and 0.134% copper.
Drilling efforts at Pircas Norte extended the known mineralization with notable results, such as 206 meters of 0.99 g/t gold and 0.109% copper. The exploration has identified a district-scale gold-copper system, now open in several directions.
CEO Shawn Wallace expressed confidence in the project's potential, citing a partnership with Gold Fields, which has already invested over $6 million. This discovery marks the third significant find within the Santa Cecilia project, underlining its importance in the gold-copper mining sector.
