TotalEnergies launches production from the Anchor field in the Gulf of Mexico
TotalEnergies announced on August 12, 2024 the start of production from the Anchor field in the Gulf of Mexico. The company holds a 37.14% interest alongside Chevron, the project operator with 62.86%.
Located 140 miles off the coast of Louisiana, Anchor's development began in December 2019. The field consists of subsea wells connected to a semi-submersible floating production unit. This unit has a production capacity of 75,000 barrels of oil and 28 million cubic feet of gas per day.
TotalEnergies estimates that Anchor will contribute approximately 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day to the company at its plateau. The floating unit has been designed to minimize emissions through an all-electric configuration and heat and steam recovery technologies.
According to Nicolas Terraz, General Manager Exploration & Production, this project marks a new milestone in the deployment of TotalEnergies' multi-energy model in the United States. He adds that this project was carried out safely and on time and on budget, contributing to the growth of the company's net cash flow.
