on Auto-schweiz

Towards an individual approach to solving road bottlenecks

Auto-Suisse deplores the rejection of the federal decree concerning the 2023 development phase of national roads. The competition between road and rail has played in favour of the opponents, leaving congestion and safety problems unresolved. In response, auto-Suisse proposes to focus on individual projects to maintain the efficiency of national roads.

Auto-Suisse President Peter Grünenfelder emphasises the importance of this infrastructure for Switzerland. He hopes that new projects will gain majority support, thus avoiding dangerous bypass traffic in urban areas.

Despite the failed vote, the auto industry continues its transformation toward low- and zero-emission technologies. More than $500 billion has been invested by global automakers in clean technologies, such as electric drives and hydrogen engines.
