TradeMark Africa and the Government of Rwanda host Trade Development Forum in Kigali

TradeMark Africa (TMA) and the Government of Rwanda will co-host a Trade Development Forum in Kigali, from 2-3 December 2024. The two-day forum will bring together leaders and experts from 14 countries around the theme of digital trade.

The event will showcase innovative technologies such as digital payment interoperability, distributed ledgers (DLT) and artificial intelligence. Discussions will aim to show how these technologies can streamline trade and support green commerce.

David Beer, Managing Director of TradeMark Africa, highlighted the importance of the event for Africa’s economic progress. He noted the progress made in reducing transport times in the Northern Corridor in East Africa through trade facilitation initiatives.

Jean Chrysostome Ngabitsinze, Rwandan Minister of Trade and Industry, said the forum reflects Rwanda's commitment to economic development and African integration, including through initiatives such as the electronic single window and the Kigali dry port.
