"Under the African Sun" Tackles Zimbabwe’s Clean Water Crisis
July 25, 2024 – Rivers are Life has premiered a new documentary, "Under the African Sun," focusing on the Zambezi River and the communities relying on it for clean water. Zimbabwe's record dry spells, particularly in 2022, have drastically lowered river levels, affecting 32 million residents who depend on it for electricity, drinking water, and agriculture.
In 2017, Leonard Maronda and Pastor "Brother Bill" Evans initiated borehole drilling projects in remote villages. Leonard, the local facilitator at the Mission House and International Director at Far and Away Missions, manages the project logistics. Meanwhile, Brother Bill, Director of Quench Ministries, aids in constructing these freshwater wells globally.
Brother Bill, moved by the living conditions he witnessed, expressed his determination to provide cleaner water to the children of these communities. To date, they have drilled 11 wells and repaired others, supplying approximately 44,000 gallons of potable water daily.
The documentary underscores the critical role of clean water access for global communities and ecosystems. "Under the African Sun" is available to watch from today's premiere.
