US Military Aircraft Delivers Critical Health Supplies to Haiti
On April 25, 2024, Hope for Haiti, a non-profit organization, received 20 pallets of Pedialyte orally rehydrated solution from the United States aboard an American military aircraft. This was part of the US Department of Defense Denton Humanitarian Assistance Program, which aids NGOs by providing free transport for disaster relief materials.
The Pedialyte shipment will help Hope for Haiti manage dehydration and cholera outbreak responses. This effort comes at a critical time as gang violence in Haiti disrupts aid delivery by healthcare providers. The supplies are part of a strategic placement to combat anticipated cholera surges, especially as populations shift southward away from the violence in Port-au-Prince.
The assistance also included collaboration with MAP International, which donated the Pedialyte, and Lift NonProfit Logistics, which overseen the logistics. Skyler Badenoch, CEO of Hope for Haiti, expressed gratitude towards these partners for their essential roles in supporting Haitian communities and healthcare efforts during this crisis.
