Key speakers, including Uzbek producers, international investors, and public representatives, discussed the sector's potential and necessary steps for global success.
Uzbekistan's textile industry has modernized significantly, aligning with international standards. Since introducing cotton-textile clusters in 2017, and with progressive labor regulations, it has joined the Better Cotton Initiative and Better Work program. Between January and July 2024, Uzbekistan exported over $1.7 billion in textiles to 85 countries. The goal is to triple exports to $6.5 billion by 2026.
Government support has attracted international investors. Kihak Sung, Chairman of Youngone Corporation, shared their success story, with plans to invest $55 million and create over 5,000 jobs. Karim Shafei of Gherzi Textil Organisation noted Uzbekistan's competitive labor costs, favorable investment climate, and strategic position.
Hosting the ITMF Annual Conference and IAF Fashion Convention 2024, Mirmukhsin Sultanov, Acting Chairman of Uztextileprom, emphasized Uzbekistan's historical and modern achievements in textiles. Aiming for a $10 billion export target by 2030, Uzbekistan is confident in expanding its global market presence.
