Veganz Group AG and Körber Technologies GmbH Partner on OrbiFarm® Technology
On 28 May 2024, Veganz Group AG formalized a partnership with Körber Technologies GmbH to produce and distribute the OrbiFarm® technology for indoor cultivation of staple foods. This agreement marks the next phase for technologies developed with the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME, now transitioning to industrial-scale production.
OrbiFarm® technology has successfully cultivated proteins indoors, with pea plants yielding double the produce compared to traditional methods. These plants can be harvested six times annually, and the entire biomass is usable, enhancing efficiency. The first industrial-scale prototype is already built at the Fraunhofer Institute IME in Aachen.
Jan Bredack, CEO of Veganz, notes that OrbiFarm® offers a viable solution for food security amid climate change. Dr. Jan-Gerd Frerichs of Körber Technologies highlights their contribution to implementing OrbiFarm® technology globally.
