Veolia modernizes one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in France
The Lyon Metropolis has entrusted Veolia with the modernization and management of the Saint Fons wastewater treatment plant, one of the largest in France. This contract worth 100 million euros over six years aims to make this site an environmental benchmark.
With a capacity of one million inhabitants, this station will see its carbon footprint reduced thanks to an innovative integrated offer from Veolia, in accordance with its GreenUp strategic plan. Electricity consumption will be reduced by 15%, gas by 72%, water by 10% and chemical additives by 50%.
Veolia will use its various skills to manage the station more efficiently, while ensuring compliance with the strictest environmental standards. Heat recovery from incineration furnaces will also produce 6% of the site's electricity needs.
