VINCI Secures Contract for Highway 1 Expansion in Canada
VINCI Construction has been awarded a contract to upgrade and widen a significant 4.5 km stretch of Highway 1 in British Columbia, Canada. This project, valued at 62 million euros (CAD 94 million), is part of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program, located 70 km from Vancouver. The initiative aims to enhance traffic flow and safety for the 80,000 daily motorists using this route.
The project will expand Highway 1 to include carpooling and bus lanes, build two new bridges, and renew a rest area. The development is scheduled for substantial completion by the summer of 2027. Environmental efforts will be incorporated to support aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity. Additionally, 15% of the workforce will comprise members from local First Nation communities, such as Kwantlen and Matsqui.
