Viral Campaign Founders for Juneteenth National Holiday Movement Return to Host Bay Area Celebration of Freedom

Hella Creative and Last Supper Society present Hella Juneteenth "The Cookout," a festival of black food and artistry, at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA). This event, taking place on June 19, will be held in the picturesque OMCA Garden.

In 2020, Hella Creative initiated a campaign that played a key role in elevating Juneteenth to a nationally recognized holiday. They launched a website and advocated for corporate recognition, gaining support from over 805 companies to observe Juneteenth as a paid holiday. The celebration at OMCA Garden commemorates this effort and the cultural importance of cookouts in the Black American community.

"The Cookout" will feature Black chefs and Black-owned restaurants, showcasing dishes curated by Last Supper Society and Town Fare. Music by DJs Fat Tony, DJ Kenzo, and DJ Darling Cool will accompany the event. Other attractions include a spades tournament, a collective line dance, wine tasting, art installations, and lawn games.

Join Hella Creative and Last Supper Society in celebrating freedom, community, and culture on June 19 at the OMCA Garden. For more details, visit hellajuneteenth.com.
