Viridien Awarded Large Seismic Imaging Project in Algeria by Groupement Berkine

Paris, France – June 12, 2024 – Viridien, formerly CGG, has been selected by Groupement Berkine, a joint venture of Sonatrach, Occidental Petroleum, and other partners, for a significant seismic imaging project. The project covers a 3,400 sq km high-density onshore data set over blocks B404a and B208 in the Berkine Basin, Eastern Algeria.

Viridien's specialized team in France will use advanced imaging workflows to enhance the resolution of the target area's complex geology. Their experience in similar surveys in the Middle East is expected to yield valuable subsurface insights.

Peter Whiting, EVP of Geoscience at Viridien, noted the company's best-in-class imaging technology and extensive history in Algeria as key factors for their selection. Viridien's ongoing efforts in the region date back to the 1950s and include numerous successful reimaging projects.
