Visit of Karl Lauterbach to the plasma donation center of Biotest AG in Cologne
On February 28, 2024, Karl Lauterbach, Member of the German Bundestag, visited the new plasma service center in Cologne, set up by Biotest AG, to highlight the crucial role of plasma donations in the healthcare system. Opened in January 2024, this center represents the most modern facility among the 11 plasma service centers in Germany.
Tanja Engelen, medical director, highlighted during this visit the importance of plasma donation, made efficient by a paperless donation system. Karl Lauterbach thanked the many donors for their vital commitment to supporting seriously ill patients, as well as the center's employees for their contribution to the health sector.
The need for plasma in Germany is increasingly pressing, amid shortages that threaten the supply of essential medicines for many patients. Biotest AG, through its regular audits, guarantees compliance with quality and safety standards in Germany, where the collected plasma is processed.
