Voestalpine AG Navigates Challenges in First Half of 2024/25
Voestalpine AG has managed to maintain stability in the first half of its 2024/25 business year despite a difficult economic climate, particularly in the European steel industry. The company's revenue decreased slightly to EUR 8 billion from EUR 8.5 billion year-on-year, while EBITDA fell to EUR 718 million due to negative one-off effects, compared to EUR 903 million the previous year.
Key sectors for the company, such as railway infrastructure and aerospace, showed strong performance, while demand weakened in the energy, construction, and mechanical engineering industries. The automotive sector, influenced by profit warnings from European manufacturers, showed no immediate recovery.
Highlighting flexibility, Voestalpine has several growth projects underway globally and issued its first green bond in September 2024, raising EUR 500 million. The company's employment increased by 1%, totaling 51,700 employees. Looking forward, Voestalpine expects an annual EBITDA of approximately EUR 1.4 billion.
