Voltalia and Taqa Arabia Advance Green Hydrogen Project in Egypt

Voltalia and TAQA Arabia have signed a framework agreement to further develop a cluster that combines renewable energy generation with green hydrogen production in Egypt. The agreement was finalized during the Egypt-EU Investment Conference 2024 in Cairo, held under the auspices of Ursula von der Leyen and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The partnership aims to implement this project in two phases, each comprising a 500-megawatt electrolyzer powered by over 1.3 gigawatts of solar and wind energy. The entire facility will produce more than 350,000 tons of hydrogen annually for each phase, located near Ain Sokhna port in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Egyptian officials such as Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, and others, attended the signing. Voltalia and TAQA Arabia emphasized their commitment to supporting Egypt's green transformation and energy security through renewable resources.
