Vulcan Energy Secures €104m in German Government Grants
Vulcan Energy Resources Limited announced today the approval of grants totaling approximately €104 million from German federal and state governments. The funding will support Vulcan's Clean Lithium for Battery Cell Production project, known as Li4BAT.
The grants, under the EU's Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework and the German government's battery cell production ecosystem funding, will aid Vulcan's Phase One Lionheart Project. This includes the development of Vulcan’s Geothermal Lithium Extraction Plant (G-LEP) in Landau and the Central Lithium Plant (CLP) in Frankfurt.
Li4BAT aims to bolster the resilience of Germany’s and Europe’s raw materials supply chain, providing battery-quality lithium to the European electric vehicle industry. The grant will be distributed over three years, starting 1 October 2025.
