Biomethane production unit commissioned in Iowa
Scott County, Linwood Mining and Minerals, and Waga Energy have launched a biomethane production facility in Davenport, Iowa. This facility aims to provide local, renewable energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Using patented WAGABOX® technology, waste biogas is converted into biomethane, an alternative to fossil natural gas. The facility produces over 60 GWh of biomethane annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by 16,800 metric tons.
Waga Energy will operate the facility for 20 years, sharing revenues with the County Waste Commission and Linwood, which owns the site. This project contributes to the energy transition by recovering methane captured at the waste site.
