Waga Energy launches a new biomethane unit in Drôme
Waga Energy, a specialist in landfill gas recovery, inaugurated a new biomethane production unit on April 11, 2024 in Chatuzange-le-Goubet, Drôme. This installation, based on patented WAGABOX® technology, transforms the gas emitted by waste into biomethane, a renewable alternative to natural gas, which is then injected into the GRDF network.
The unit processes emissions from 150,000 tonnes of waste per year and can produce up to 25 GWh of biomethane annually, enough to supply around 3,500 homes. This initiative also makes it possible to reduce CO2 equivalent emissions by more than 4,000 tonnes per year. This project, carried out in collaboration with Veolia, marks the fourth partnership between the two companies, highlighting their common commitment to the ecological transition.
