Waga Energy, Steuben County, and Corning Natural Gas Inaugurate RNG Unit in New York

On May 16, 2024, Waga Energy, Steuben County, and Corning Natural Gas inaugurated the first WAGABOX® Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production unit at the Bath Landfill in New York. The event saw the attendance of 80 individuals, including Kelly Fitzpatrick, Chairwoman of Steuben County, Guénaël Prince, CEO of Waga Energy Inc., and Mike German, CEO of Corning Natural Gas.

The WAGABOX® unit began operations on March 15, 2024, and is set to produce up to 207,000 MMBtu of RNG annually. This output will supply clean energy to approximately 4,000 households and reduce emissions by an estimated 13,500 tons of CO2 annually. Corning Natural Gas facilitated the connection by constructing the necessary gas infrastructure.

Steuben County is the first U.S. municipality to adopt Waga Energy’s WAGABOX® technology, which uses cryogenics to convert landfill gas into RNG. The project, operational under a 20-year agreement, is expected to generate revenue from RNG sales, which will be shared with the county.
