Wienerberger Expands into Dutch Market with Acquisition of GrainPlastics

Vienna, May 14, 2024 – Wienerberger AG, a global leader in building and infrastructure solutions, has announced its acquisition of GrainPlastics, a specialist in drainage and cable protection systems based in the Netherlands. With production facilities in Leeuwarden and Hoogeveen, this acquisition aligns with Wienerberger's expansion strategy in its Western Region, notably enhancing its piping solutions portfolio.

The integration of GrainPlastics not only enhances Wienerberger’s capacity but also diversifies its product range in water and energy management. This strategic move is anticipated to deepen market penetration and cater to the rising demand linked to the green energy transition driven by significant public investment in the Netherlands. The acquisition promises an increase in the use of recycled materials for piping, boosting Wienerberger’s sustainability efforts.
