Youngstown and Porter partner with Solar Simplified for community solar project
The municipalities of Youngstown and Porter announce a partnership with Solar Simplified to offer savings on electric bills through community solar power. This program aims to reduce the monthly energy costs of residents and businesses by 10%, without requiring additional installation of solar panels.
Porter Supervisor Duffy Johnston and Youngstown Mayor Rob Reisman shared their enthusiasm for this initiative leveraging National Grid's solar infrastructure, which can support approximately 4,000 homes. Registration, open to National Grid account holders, is simplified and can be canceled at any time without penalty.
This campaign is also part of NYSERDA's Clean Energy Communities program, promoting sustainable local development. This collaboration highlights the commitment of both municipalities to sustainable development and simplified access to clean energy, despite the moratorium on ground-mounted solar installations in the region.
