Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan Now Fully Operational

Skyborn Renewables and its partners in Yunneng Wind Power have announced that the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) in Taiwan is now fully operational. This milestone marks a significant advancement in Taiwan’s renewable energy sector, with the wind farm producing clean energy at its full design capacity of 640 MW. The project, featuring 80 wind turbines, can supply electricity to over 600,000 Taiwanese homes annually, making it a key player in Taiwan's energy transition.

The Yunlin OWF, one of Taiwan’s largest offshore wind farms, is crucial in reducing the country's carbon emissions by about 1,200,000 tons per year. It is situated in the Taiwan Strait and contributes to meeting 90% of the non-industrial electricity needs in Yunlin County. With a capacity of 2,400 GWh, the project is operated by Yunneng, a joint venture including Skyborn and TotalEnergies, among others.

This achievement supports Taiwan’s goal to reach 5.7 GW of offshore wind power by 2025. By June 2025, TotalEnergies will handle technical operations management of the Yunlin OWF, while Skyborn will oversee other management services. The project's success is attributed to numerous partners and stakeholders, backed by a robust financial consortium that includes both local and international players.
