Zentek Subsidiary Albany Graphite Corp. Achieves Five Nines Purity for Albany Graphite
Zentek Ltd. announced that its subsidiary, Albany Graphite Corporation (AGC), has achieved a five nines purity of 99.99915% for graphite from the Albany deposit. This milestone was reached using a two-step purification process without hydrofluoric acid. The graphite sample was analyzed using Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS).
The purification process resulted in extremely low total impurities of less than 8.5 ppm, against the commonly accepted maximum of 500 ppm for advanced battery applications. AGC will test the material for suitability as an anode component for lithium-ion batteries and the nuclear market.
Zentek's CEO, Greg Fenton, noted that the results exceeded expectations and positioned the company advantageously in the market. The company also reported an updated mineral resource estimate for the Albany Graphite Project, indicating substantial reserves suitable for both open pit and underground mining scenarios.
