Zero Waste Forum and Festival: Stepping Stones to Türkiye’s COP31

In the lead-up to COP31 in Antalya, the Zero Waste Forum 2026 and Zero Waste Festival in Istanbul highlighted Türkiye's role in zero waste advocacy. Held at Atatürk Airport from June 5–7, 2026, the forum emphasized the importance of zero waste in climate action, focusing on practical applications over negotiations.

The event, organized by the Zero Waste Foundation, attracted over 120 ministers from 183 countries, serving as a major rehearsal for COP31. It facilitated coordination and reinforced partnerships aimed at effective implementation of zero waste initiatives. Key outputs included the Road to Antalya Declaration and the City Action Commitments Package.

The concurrent Zero Waste Festival engaged the public, emphasizing environmental awareness through exhibitions, workshops, and cultural activities. Together, the forum and festival positioned Istanbul as a pioneering platform in connecting diplomacy with public action.
