More than 1 million guests visit the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe
In an ad hoc announcement pursuant to Art. 53 of the Listing Rules, Jungfraubahn Holding AG announces in 2024, with 1,058,600 guests on the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe, the million mark was exceeded for the sixth time since 2015. The Firstbahn and Harderbahn as well as the Lauterbrunnen-Mürren Mountain Rail- and Cableway set new records for the Experience Mountains. The 2024/2025 winter season got off with the best start to a season in history.
In 2024, a total of 1,058,600 guests visited the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. The increase in frequency of 5.1 per cent compared to the previous year is partly due to group trips, which are back at pre-coronavirus-pandemic levels. Additionally, there has been a further increase in guests from the USA, India and Southeast Asia. Figures for visitors from China and Japan are still around 50 per cent lower than pre-crisis level.
Record frequencies for the Experience Mountains
Record numbers of guests were once again recorded for the Experience Mountains. The Harder funicular beat its record from 2023 by 6.4 per cent. It recorded 878,200 ascents and descents, the highest number of visitors. This was also the case for the First gondola, which recorded an overall increase of 10.0 per cent compared to the previous year with 926,900 visitors. The Lauterbrunnen-Mürren Mountain Rail- and Cableway (BLM) counted 507,200 guests, an increase of 12.2 per cent compared to 2023.
In 2024, over 2 million guests travelled on the route between Grindelwald Terminal and the Eigergletscher on the Eiger Express for the second time after 2023. Last year it carried a total of 2,107,400 passengers.
Launch of the winter season
The 2024/2025 winter sports season started on 30 November 2024 with weekend operations, and there have been continuous winter sports operations since 14 December. During advance sales of the Top4 ski pass (partner offer from Adelboden-Lenk, Gstaad, Jungfrau Ski Region and Meiringen-Hasliberg), around 33,000 Top4 ski passes were sold at the advance sale price, which was a higher number than for the 2023/2024 winter season with over 32,000 Top4 ski passes sold.
From the start of the season to 31 December 2024, the Jungfrau Ski Region registered 218,500 skier visits. Compared to the same period a year ago, this corresponds to an increase of 5.1 per cent and therefore it is the best start to the season in history. The Jungfrau Ski Region is a partnership in which the Jungfrau Railway Group holds a share of sales of over 60 per cent.
