Franchisee Litigation - The Paris Court of Appeal Rules in Favor of Carrefour
Franchisee Litigation The Paris Court of Appeal Rules in Favor of Carrefour
Carrefour acknowledges with satisfaction the ruling issued today by the Paris Court of Appeal regarding the dispute with the Carrefour Franchisees Association (AFC).
The Court sets aside the initial judgment of the Rennes Commercial Court. It confirms the full validity of the arbitration clauses included in all contracts concluded between Carrefour and its partners. Consequently, the Court has ruled that the Rennes Commercial Court lacks jurisdiction to hear any of the claims brought by the AFC.
This decision marks a major milestone in the litigation against the AFC. It reinforces the Carrefour franchise model and demonstrates its strength, at a time when this model is at the heart of the Group’s growth strategy.
The Group reaffirms its commitment to dialogue with all its franchise partners and notes that a proposal for an amicable settlement had been rejected by the AFC.
