CDA - New PSD at Pralognan-la-Vanoise
DELIBERATION BY THE PRALOGNAN-LA-VANOISE TOWN COUNCIL
APPROVING THE CHOICE OF COMPAGNIE DES ALPES TO SIGN A NEW 25 YEARS PUBLIC SERVICE DELEGATION AGREEMENT
Paris, Jully 15, 2025 – (Unaudited figures)
Compagnie des Alpes announced today that its bid has been selected by the municipal council of the commune of Pralognan-la-Vanoise (Savoie) for the award of the public service delegation contract for the development and operation of its mountain area (alpine ski area, Nordic ski area and reservation center). The term of the contract is 25 years. This is a new public service delegation contract for Compagnie des Alpes.
Dominique Thillaud, Chief Executive Officer of Compagnie des Alpes, commented: "We would like to thank the commune of Pralognan-la-Vanoise for its confidence. It is a great source of pride for Compagnie des Alpes, and its teams, that our project has been selected to operate this magnificent ski area for the next 25 years. It's also a great endorsement of our expertise in mountain areas and our commitment to meeting the needs of our local communities.”
Pralognan-la-Vanoise, the main gateway to the Vanoise National Park, is an exceptional resort nestled between the Tarentaise ski areas at an altitude of 1,400 meters. Known as the “Little Chamonix”, this charming village-resort has a year-round population of around 740 and over 9,600 beds. Thanks to its exceptional location, Pralognan-la-Vanoise has been able to develop an economic activity outside the winter season, with over 40% of its annual visitor numbers (in terms of overnight stays) concentrated in the summer months.
The Pralognan-la-Vanoise ski area rises to an altitude of 2,400 meters and today includes 26 kilometers of downhill skiing (31 trails), 27 kilometers of cross-country skiing trails and hundreds of hiking itineraries in summer. The site's geographical and climatic specificities mean that the ski area benefits from exceptional, long-lasting cold and snow conditions[1].
The new public service delegation contract will take effect on 1 November 2025. According to the Group's estimates, the integration of this new site will add around €300m to Compagnie des Alpes' backlog[2] (cumulative sales over the duration of the contract).
David Ponson, Director of Compagnie des Alpes' Ski Areas and Outdoor Activities division, comments: "With this new public service delegation, the Group is extending its presence in mountain areas. Pralognan-laVanoise, a region of diversified experience, has many assets that often complement those of our other areas. We are delighted to welcome the domain's employees to our Group. Thanks to our expertise, we hold all the cards to strengthen and develop the destination's appeal.”
