Eiffage secures two works packages for the project  to redevelop the former Saint-Vincent-de-Paul hospital in Paris in a contract worth over €63 million

Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Construction, has secured two of the four works new construction packages for the project launched by the City of Paris to redevelop the former Saint-Vincent-de-Paul hospital site as an ecodistrict, in the 14th district. The contract is worth over €63 million.

Led by Paris & Métropole Aménagement, the project will create 600 homes, spaces for social and inclusive economy activities, and public and cultural facilities. The two works packages concerned both relate to collaborative social housing: the “Petit” package for the City of Paris social landlord (RIVP) and the “Chaufferie” package for Paris Habitat.

The “Petit” works package covers 183 homes and some business premises distributed between four buildings with total floor space of over 12,000 m2. The “Chaufferie” package includes 98 homes, 32 emergency housing units, 25 guest houses and a number of business premises, for a total 9,000 m2 of floor space across three buildings.

The two complexes are targeting several certifications and labels: NF Habitat HQE (Excellent level), E+C- (E3C2), BBCA (Low-carbon Performance) and Biosourced Building (level 3). They will be built to Passivhaus standards and follow the Paris Climate Action Plan. To meet these environmental targets, policies have been defined on materials reuse and waste upcycling. For the social aspects, a panel of future residents oversaw the design process and will ultimately become ambassadors for their building and their district.

Eiffage Construction will perform all work for the “Petit” and “Chaufferie” works packages on a general contracting basis over a 30-month period.

The Group had previously been involved in the preliminary phases of the project via its subsidiary Demcy. Between 2019 and 2020, its teams spent 11 months removing asbestos and demolishing or methodically disassembling six buildings (total floor space 20,000 m2). The result was 700 doors, 300 windows and 500 radiators palletised and ready to be reused, and all structural materials (18,000 m3) were crushed and reused on site.
