Federal Development Minister Svenja Schulze and Federal Minister of Labour Hubertus Heil discussed topics of development cooperation with the Ghanaian Minister of Labour Ignatius Baffour-Awuah. „[…] While many countries, like, for example, Ghana, are faced with the challenge of creating jobs for their young and growing population, demographic change in Germany means that we are desperately looking for labour in many areas. The example of Ghana is an illustration that we can find good joint solutions to address both the situation in our partner countries and the situation in Germany […]“, explains Federal Development Minister Svenja Schulze.
The ARD Tagesthemen** reported on the meeting in Ghana on the 20th of February. The solution provider AmaliTech was presented. Martin Hecker, founder and CEO, addresses both problems with his innovative and social business model. AmaliTech connects highly qualified digital experts from Africa with European companies.
"Communication is in English. In IT, we all speak the same language anyway. Beyond that, there are enough ways to simplify communication today," says Sharaf Deen Okyere, Technical Account Manager at AmaliTech in Takoradi, Ghana, who was interviewed during the programme.
All surpluses generated by AmaliTech are directly reinvested in training the next generation of digital professionals and in other local social projects. This creates a growing pool of highly qualified professionals, and Africa's youth are given long-term job prospects.
