Homann Holzwerkstoffe publishes its 2025 Sustainability Statement and is already using the revised ESRS
- The group publishes its fifth voluntary sustainability statement
- Early adoption of the revised European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) published by EFRAG in December 2025
- Update to the double materiality analysis: reduction in the scope of reporting and removal of ESRS S4 as a material standard
- Reduction in specific CO₂ emissions in Scope 1 and 2 (CO₂eq/m³) by 42% compared to the base year 2020 achieved
Munich, 3rd of June 2026 – Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH, a leading European supplier of thin, highly processed fibreboards for the furniture, door and coating industries has today published its fifth voluntary sustainability statement – covering the 2025 financial year. This is the second time the statement has been prepared with reference to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), incorporating the revised ESRS published in December 2025.
The Homann Holzwerkstoffe Group is not expected to be required to report in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) until the 2027 financial year. By applying the revised standards ahead of schedule, the group is preparing early for the upcoming regulatory requirements and is using the methodological adjustments to further enhance the informative value and relevance of its reporting.
The reporting focused on a systematically revised double materiality analysis, which was completed in early 2026. The number of material impacts, risks and opportunities (IROs) was reduced from 20 to 12. As a result, the ESRS S4 standard (Consumers and End-users) was no longer classified as material, since the Homann Holzwerkstoffe Group manufactures semi-finished products and operates exclusively in the B2B sector rather than selling directly to end consumers. This allows the sustainability strategy and the associated measures to be aligned even more specifically with the issues that remain material.
Operationally, the 2025 reporting year was characterised above all by the start of production at the new site in Pagiriai, Lithuania, in May 2025. In addition, the Homann Holzwerkstoffe Group has invested in the modernisation of production and energy efficiency at its existing sites, including the modernisation of the press and gluing lines in Losheim, the further integration and automation of the processing lines in Karlino, and several energy-saving projects in Krosno, particularly in the areas of extraction and the boiler house. Specific emissions in Scope 1 and 2 (CO₂eq/m³) have already been reduced by 42% compared with the base year 2020. The proportion of electricity sourced from renewable sources stood at 45% across the Group in 2025 and is set to rise to around 54% in 2026.
With regard to its own employees, the group continues to focus on continuous professional development through structured training and further education measures. The target of an average of 25 hours of further training per employee per year was achieved for the first time in the reporting year. Furthermore, Homann Holzwerkstoffe attaches great importance to the ongoing maintenance of high product safety and quality, which is essential for long-term customer loyalty.
