Kerlink Launches Wirnet™ iEdge Series: Revolutionary Indoor LoRaWAN® Edge Gateways for Smart Buildings

Designed to connect, process, and integrate sensor data directly with building management systems (BMS) and IoT platforms, Wirnet™ iEdge and Wirnet™ iEdge+ represent a significant advancement in smart building technology.

The Wirnet™ iEdge series, which includes optional 4G/5G cellular backhaul, goes beyond legacy connectivity by embedding edge-computing capabilities directly in the gateway. Powered by an industrial-grade Cortex-A35 CPU, the device can host vertically oriented frameworks and on-site applications, enabling real-time data processing, protocol conversion, and local decision-making without cloud dependency.

Kerlink invites industry professionals to discover the Wirnet™ iEdge devices at the Intelligent Building Systems (IBS) exhibition in Porte de Versailles, Oct. 14-15 at Booth K37. William Gouesbet, chairman and CEO, will lead a team of company experts on hand to detail the range’s advantages and applications.

The indoor gateway is Kerlink’s second major product expansion this year. In March, the company launched its new-generation Wirnet™ iStation M2 outdoor gateway, which supports Kerlink’s widely used smart city, smart metering, and smart agriculture & environment applications. Moreover, to ensure reliable service in extremely remote terrain, such as mines and islands, an optional solar power package can be added to provide full energy autonomy.

Seamless Integration with Building Automation

For smart building professionals, the Wirnet™ iEdge offers extensive protocol support including BACnet, Modbus, and MQTT. The gateway connects LoRaWAN® sensors directly to BMS platforms, PLCs, and controllers such as Java Application Control Engine (JACE) through BACnet over Ethernet. Industrial applications benefit from Modbus integration for connecting sensor data to existing automation systems.

The product also demonstrates compatibility with the Niagara Framework ®, a widely adopted building management platform. Backhaul options include Ethernet and 4G cellular connections for flexible deployment scenarios.
