Narconon Suncoast Champions Awareness During National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week
CLEARWATER, FL / ACCESSWIRE / March 21, 2024 / Narconon Suncoast is proud to join the fight against addiction by working alongside the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in 2024 for National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week (NDAFW), March 18-24.
Narconon Suncoast's grounds offer the ideal space for healing and rejuvenation.
Every year, NDAFW inspires dialogue about drug use in youth and the science behind substance abuse to better educate kids on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Educators, prevention specialists, and counselors provide insight, education, and resources to improve knowledge and awareness around addiction.
Providing the younger generation with accurate information and education about drug abuse is proving to be pivotal in the fight against addiction. Seventy-four percent of those living with addiction in treatment centers claim they began using substances at the age of 17 or younger. Early onset of substance use is predictive of long-term impairments, making it more difficult for young people to achieve sobriety and live a healthy life.
The Mission of National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week
The mission of NDAFW is to empower young people to strengthen their decision-making skills, learn healthy coping skills, and normalize asking for help when they are struggling. Many young people turn to substances because they feel alone or think they will disappoint friends or family by admitting they need help.
"Education is arguably the most powerful tool against addiction," said Dr. Dawn Frankwick, Narconon's Clinical Director. "Many individuals have no idea of the repercussions of using various substances, as they're just looking for a way to cope with the challenges life has dealt them."
How Narconon Suncoast Empowers Recovery
Narconon Suncoast has made empowerment its mission for over 50 years, providing patients with drug-free withdrawal programs and a holistic, educational approach to living a drug-free life.
Dr. Frankwick further explained, "We believe that with proper education, our youth can make informed decisions about using substances and will potentially feel powerful enough to ask for help instead."
Narconon Suncoast believes that by understanding the issues that lead to addiction, individuals can seek help through other avenues that will lead to long-term success and sustainable sobriety. Providing patients with practical life skills is critical to developing a better sense of self, improving their personal values, and ultimately, living a productive life without any substances.
