OVHcloud announces the SecNumCloud qualification of its Bare Metal Pod cloud platform, combining strategic autonomy and enhanced security

Roubaix, March 31, 2025 – OVHcloud today announces the SecNumCloud 3.2 qualification for its ultra-secure cloud platform: Bare Metal Pod. With this recognition from French Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI), OVHcloud is reaffirming its commitment to public and private organizations, providing a concrete response to their need for strategic autonomy.

A cloud platform with enhanced security                     

With the launch of Bare Metal Pod SecNumCloud, OVHcloud has developed a platform that gives its users complete autonomy in creating and managing their cloud. In compliance with SecNumCloud requirements, it natively integrates essential security building blocks: data encryption, key management, network isolation and access control. All of this provides a high level of control, and full traceability of actions taken.

With 25 years of experience in infrastructure management, OVHcloud has also developed an integrated software layer that simplifies the configuration and operation of its platform. This solution enables quick and easy setup, suitable for both small deployments and large-scale complex infrastructure. This approach makes the platform secure and simple to operate.

This technological foundation enables organizations today to deploy critical services with confidence. For example, partners like Capgemini help implement secure solutions in a variety of environments. AIFE (French State Financial Informatics Agency) uses this platform to host sensitive digital services, such as the Public Billing Portal, for administrations, local authorities and businesses. OVHcloud also uses this platform to host its own internal services and is in the process of gradually migrating all its back-end systems. It will also be used to operate an OVHcloud SecNumCloudcompliant Public Cloud environment in future. It could also be used to operate sovereign collaborative services such as messaging, file sharing or video conferencing.

A game changer for strategic autonomy

With this qualification, OVHcloud is accelerating on several fronts and is supporting organizations in a number of ways:

•      Accelerate SecNumCloud qualification for Public Cloud

Thanks to this secure platform, which is already SecNumCloud qualified, OVHcloud plans to file a new application (D0) in May 2025 to also qualify its Public Cloud services. The goal is to offer SecNumCloud-compliant Public Cloud solutions by the end of 2025. Each new product will be qualified in parallel as it is released.

•      A "Swiss army knife" platform for CIOs

This platform enables IT systems divisions to become internal cloud service providers, meeting digital transformation requirements related to sensitive or regulated data. By deploying this solution in-house, CIOs can offer their teams or end customers comprehensive managed services based on a sovereign, secure and easy-tomanage infrastructure. They have access to a configurable landing zone, through which they can control their users' rights, the security of their networks and monitor the activity of their cloud infrastructure. Bare Metal Pod SNC allows organizations to benefit from a technology "Swiss army knife" for CIOs, simplifying service management while guaranteeing a high level of control and compliance.

•      Become a cloud provider

The platform offers companies the opportunity to become cloud service providers in turn, quickly deploying solutions tailored to their own customers’ needs. This is the case with DEEP, for example, the technological entity of the POST Luxembourg group, which has used this solution to set up a sovereign cloud in Luxembourg. This will enable Deep’s customers to host their sensitive data in datacentres located in Luxembourg, ensuring full compliance with European regulations and enhanced protection of critical information.

•      Simplified certification for all sectors

In addition to incorporating the strictest certification requirements, Bare Metal Pod simplifies audit and compliance processes. With its native features such as access management, role management, and production of audit evidence, OVHcloud will be able to comply more easily with civilian regulatory frameworks such as PCI DSS, DORA, and military frameworks such as Directive 48. This approach facilitates compliance in highly regulated industries such as government, state security, healthcare, energy, and finance.

SecNumCloud: Comprehensive protection for organizations worldwide

The SecNumCloud qualification, issued by French Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI), is based on more than 360 requirements covering technical, organizational and legal dimensions. It guarantees enhanced security and is suitable for hosting sensitive data such as state information, patents, sensitive intellectual property and critical data used for artificial intelligence.

This rigorous process takes time but is essential to deliver an infrastructure that meets the highest European standards. It acts as another form of protection against the legal risks linked to non-European regulations and strengthens trust in the use of the cloud.
