JP Morgan Chase & Co. increases its stake in Alstom

On May 14, 2024, JP Morgan Chase & Co. announced that it had crossed the regulatory thresholds for holding Alstom shares. The American company now holds 5.17% of the capital and voting rights of the French company, represented by 19,882,770 shares. Subsidiary details show that JP Morgan Securities plc owns the majority with 18,711,468 shares.

This change in participation results mainly from off-market acquisitions as well as the increase in shares held by assimilation. It also involves the use of various financial instruments such as right of use over ADR contracts and physically settled call options.

It should be noted that a significant portion of the shares is also held through “cash-settled equity swap” contracts, specifying the influence of derivative instruments in this transaction.
