Vivendi: Plan to list Canal+ on the London Stock Exchange
Vivendi has confirmed the compatibility of Canal+'s proposed listing on the London Stock Exchange with French legislation on freedom of communication. This project involves the creation of a holding company under French law, called Canal+, which will have 100% control of the company holding terrestrial broadcasting authorizations.
The holding company will replace Vivendi as parent company of the Canal+ group. In accordance with article 40 of the French law of September 30, 1986, any acquisition by non-European investors of more than 20% of the capital of the company holding the issue authorizations is prohibited.
Vivendi specifies that this current legal framework would also allow a listing of Canal+ on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, if this choice is retained in the future, just as it is compatible with the listing of Vivendi in Paris.
